My name is David, and we, my wife Emily, joined Luxury House Sitting about 2 and a half years ago.
I had recently been made redundant after more than 30 years in the oil industry working for two to three months on Hydrographic Survey vessels, at a time, having previously served in her Majesties armed forces here in the UK.
Life is far too short to sit back and feel sorry for myself, so with this in mind we have decided to take ourselves off at every opportunity and explore the world.
We have recently returned from house sitting in Brisbane for 3 months, but this wasn't booked through any web site, it was done through word of mouth. We have since house-sat in Tasmania, Brisbane again, and Alaska through this web site.
Both Emily and I have travelled extensively, in fact I met my wife while we were both working in Southern Sudan, she was working as a nurse for Save the Children, and I was in the Imatong Mountains on an aid project from the EEC (as it was back then). We are both in good health other than the usual old age "aches and pains", grunting when I stand, grunting even louder when I sit down again.
We both love nature and animals, Emily thinks I prefer animals to humans, she may not be wrong. I have a great affinity with animals, in my younger days I worked for the author of Ring of Bright Water, Gavin Maxwell, looking after Teko his otter a long time ago now I am afraid, living on a small remote island in the highlands of Scotland, Eilean Ban, and like Southern Sudan, we had no electricity or Television. There was no internet in those days.
We would love the opportunity to "house sit" for you and look after any pets that require care.
