Hi, We are Don and Shirley VanDeraa.   We have done house and pet sitting over the years and have good references.   We are honest, trustworthy and clean.  We would take good care of your home and pets.  We are non-smoking, and would like you to consider allowing us to house-sit while you are gone.    We love to travel and have new experiences. Since we are retired we can fit in with your schedule. 

We own our own home and are the parents of three married children and have seven grandchildren.

Shirley and Don were our house sitters and cared for Daisy, our 9 year old Basset Hound, for almost three weeks. They arrive half a day early which gave us a chance to spend time with them and orient them to our home and Daisy's schedule. Although social distancing made our time together somewhat awkward we enjoyed getting to know Shirley and Don. Daisy took to them immediately and was glued to Don after he shared apple with her. Shirley stayed in contact with us via email updates which we greatly appreciated. Shirley got Daisy out for daily walks and met a number of our neighbors. Thank you God for sending Don & Shirley to look after precious and our home. I wish I could give more than 5 stars because Don and Shirley went over and above house sitting and feeding our cat!!! Our cat got seriously ill and Don & Shirley took her to four vets and vet hospitals before being told she needed specialist care and they needed to take her to The Univeristy of Central Florida TWO HOUR DRIVE away. I was in a terrible state knowing our furbaby was touch and go, she was hospitalised for a week and then she was given the all clear to go home provided she had constant care. Shirley & Don drove another two hour drive to pick her up gave her mediication and took her to further visits to the vets. Shirley kepted me updated by email and we had several conversation on the telephone about my furbaby's progress. I dont think anyone else would have done this and I'm so greatful they were here. Precious was thoroughly spoiled being brushed daily, they were here for three months and my neigbours have said what a wonderful couple we had looking after our home and precious. I came home to Big Smiles and Hugs and a cup of hot chocoolate. My home was lovely and clean and a very spoiled happy cat. Ive not only found wonderful house sitters Ive made new friends. Too bad there isn't an option for six stars. Fabulous couple. They took very good care of our home and our cats while we were in Scotland for 2 1/2 weeks. Schedules worked so that they spent one night in the guest room before we left and one night after we returned. Good conversation. These are bright, responsible, and conscientous people. When they were loading the car to leave, our cats hung out by the front door, obviously sad to see them go. If you are looking for a top notch house sitter, the VanDeraa's will fill the bill.
