My husband Gene and I have been married for 32 years and have raised 5 children. Over the years, we have traveled when we could and our favorite accommodation is to stay in a local home to help us feel more settled in to the area. Sometimes we have stayed in the home by ourselves; sometimes we stayed when the homeowners were home. Either way, we have always thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We've also been fortunate to host many travelers in our home over the years. We host mainly bicycle tourists, although we've also hosted Couchsurfing families. When I reflect back upon all the folks we have met over the years this way, I can truthfully say it's always been fun, interesting and left us feeling richer for the experience.
We have always owned the home we live in and are familiar with general home maintenance, and that includes lawn/garden/landscaping maintenance and pool maintenance. We are neat and tidy. We also have several pets we have cared for over the years, including dogs, cats, fish, and birds. We love animals and enjoy caring for them, even the not-so-fun stuff!
A little about me: I am a registered nurse and currently work for the Texas public school system with elementary-age children. I have a lot of time off. I have also worked in hospital and clinical settings over the years. Before that, I was a homemaker and real estate agent, devoting most of my time and efforts to keeping house and raising 5 children. A little about Gene: He is a Marine Corps veteran and has worked for the same company in the petrochemical industry for 40 years. He will retire next year (2020). Even though we have no references for housesitting yet, I can confidently say we are honest, responsible, reliable, conscientious, and friendly. Individually, we each have a lot to share and offer. But put the two of us together, and we have lots of knowledge and common sense; Gene and I make a great team! I hope you'll consider having us care for your home and even your fur babies!
