My wife and I are retired military (32 years each). No strangers to living out of a suitcase, our goal in retirement is to continue those adventures by becoming immersed into the local life/culture of wherever we land. Short stays in neighborhoods, away from the touristy hotels is one of the best ways to do this. The wife is very handy as she's rebuilt our bathroom and kitchen (I was manual labor). We have lots 2 cats and a dog (but we do not travel with them), plants and a large yard that we are rather proud of - so, we're not afraid of the work involved in keeping up a home.
