About Laura Fries: |
My family is small--my husband, Jack, myself and our young adult daughter, Emma, who now lives in Philadelphia. We all love to travel, but most times, it is just my husband and I. The world can seem crazy, but the antidote to any prejudice is travel. We like to meet and understand people, try new foods and get to know other parts of the world other than our own. I like to cook, love history and photography. My husband is woodworker and sports enthusiast. I am a former Girl Scout leader (Outstanding Leader Award, City of Alexandria Citizenship Awards and Star Volunteer Award from the Del Ray Business Association), and have had U.S. safety background checks for U.S. Public schools. We are both good with plants; Jack worked at a landscaping job years ago during college and prides himself on keeping a tidy yard. I love my garden, and work well with vegetables, flowers, and herbs. I have happily grown heirloom tomatoes saved from my Grandfather's seeds. We are both vaccinated and have had booster shots. We both worked from home and without our daughter in the house, we are free to travel. We are good standing members of Trusted Housesitters and have plenty of references. Thanks for looking! |

From Sheelah: Laura, Jack and Emma looked after our 3 cats for 8 days.
Before the housesit, we kept in regular contact, and Laura made sure she was adequately prepared for the housesit. She also made sure that they arrived in the UK early, in case of any flight delays. They arrived at the house exactly as agreed.
They were fantastic with the cats, and even our fussy princess, Saskia, was won over within 2 days. Laura kept us regularly updated with photos of them cuddling the cats - cats and humans all very happy!!
When we got back, I think the cats were disappointed to say goodbye to them.
The house was left in a very tidy state, and Laura and family made our late evening return much easier with food provision.
Laura (with her green fingers) looked after our plants, and most have grown more in the last 8 days than the previous 3 months!! What a pleasant surprise.
I also loved the fact that Laura and family took advantage of their time in the UK, visiting London and also other sites far and wide.
I wish we had had more time with Laura, Jack and Emma - we really enjoyed the brief time we spent in their company. I hope we have the opportunity to meet up again, and hope they'll housesit for us again!

Watched house and pets for a local family. Including taking in mail and packages, walking the dog and watering plants. Also cleaned up after pets and kept them company.
