“THIS COUPLE IS THE REAL DEAL.”
We didn’t say that about ourselves. One of our TrustedHousesitters.com hosts said it.
We are Kirsty Carter and Lawrie Masterson, from Melbourne, Australia.
Kirsty held senior level positions in the not-for-profit sector before exercising her love of community by building websites that help people communicate with their clients and communities.
Lawrie had a long career as journalist. Over the past few years, he has wanted to travel for personal enjoyment rather than for work. He is a dual Australian-US citizen.
We are now indulging in our love of travel and like to explore many of our destinations on foot. In the past few years we have walked the Ring of Kerry in South-West Ireland, the City of London, the Lake District and the South Downs Way in England, the Routeburn Track in the South Island of New Zealand, the Myrdal-Flam Track in Norway and, in Australia, the Cities of Hobart, Melbourne and Adelaide, plus many East Coast hiking trails. In 2018, we did walking tours in Croatia and Crete before starting an open-ended adventure to see even more of the world while house sitting. We love the opportunity it gives us to experience local communities and lifestyles.
We are non-drinkers and non-smokers and will respect your home and possessions as we would our own. We are good communicators and are available on FaceTime, WhatsApp and Skype (details on request).
Having owned, rented and cared for numerous properties, apartments and houses, we know how to care for houses, furniture and gardens.
We both grew up with dogs and cats and have had cats most of our adult lives. The most recent pair, Alvin and Henry, came into our lives after finding themselves homeless. The biggest wrench for us when we set off on this adventure was to rehome them, but fortunately they now live with a loving “aunt”.
We know that all animals have independent personalities that must be understood and respected if they are to be cared for properly. Usually that involves clean litter, ample and suitable food, plenty of fluids, exercise ... and, most importantly, lots of affection.

Why we want to house sit
We love housesitting because of the opportunity it gives us to experience local communities and lifestyles, make contact with a wide variety of interesting people and care for some beautiful animals.
In 2018, after years of being home owners, we sold our high-end apartment in downtown Melbourne to embark on this adventure. We have a wealth of experience dealing calmly with the various problems that can arise for any home owner.
We both have been animal lovers since childhood

Kirsty and Lawrie were wonderful guests and dog sitters. They were timely in communication and kept the house very clean. Lawrie even made a dinner for us the night we returned! They will update you as much or as little about the sit as you\'d like and send pictures. Highly recommend them to anyone and hope to see them again in the future!

Kirsty and Lawrie are excellent housesitters. They connected immediately with my two dogs and the cat. I was glad they arrived a few days early so we could do a thorough hand-over, and they asked lots of questions about them, showing that they were really interested and dedicated to getting to know my pets. The dogs were expertly handled, which was especially good for the young dog as it's entering puberty. The contact with them before and while I was away was to the point, clear and easy. The house was immaculately clean on my return and the dogs were extremely happy and calm. If it works with dates etc. in the future I will certainly confirm them again. I'd thoroughly recommend them!!

Kirsty and Lawrie came over to look after our two indoor-only cats for three weeks while we headed to (literally) the other side of the world for our honeymoon. This is the longest time we have ever had anyone look after our boys and the furthest away we have ever been, but we definitely made the right decision in having Kirsty and Lawrie over. While away, we were sent updates with pictures on a daily basis - which is what this self-confessed crazy cat lady was more than happy with! Kirsty and Lawrie also dealt with unexpected complications with our broadband with an engineer having to come around to fix things. They clearly love cats; our boys were very happy and content on our return and our home was tidy. We would have no hesitations in recommending 'booking' Kirsty and Lawrie for pet- and home-sitting. They will put your mind at ease in no time with their great sense of humour and warmth and are very reliable, self-sufficient and fantastic in their communications with you. We wish this lovely couple many future sits around the world and hope to even welcome them back one day.
