My wife, Lorraine, and I are applying to be caretakers for your home.
We are empty nesters and we are between homes right now. Last year we sold our home in Colorado Springs about the time some friends were leaving the country for 18 months. They asked that we be caretakers for their $1 million-dollar home while they were away. We will complete the 18-month term at the end of 2019.
I work as a marketing consultant and work out of the home, so am frequently onsite at the home, unless traveling for business. Lorraine was a stay-at-home mom until our youngest started college 2 years ago. She works now as a part-time assistant for a bankruptcy attorney.
We love to travel--we are tourists at heart--and we are foodies. We like to get involved in community service. I enjoy writing, kayaking and watching movies. Lorraine enjoys cooking, playing the piano, and is an avid reader.
We come with no baggage. We have no pets and our belongings are all in storage. We do not smoke, consume alcohol, or partake in recreational drugs. We have no arrests or convictions--misdemeanors or felonies. The homeowners where we are now were most interested in leaving their home intact while away, which we were willing to accommodate.
In our role as caretakers, we manage the hired gardeners who tend to all lawn care. We deliver mail to their accountant. We take care of housekeeping for the whole home (because we live in part of it). We take care of snow removal. We also manage repairs on the property. For example, as the homeowners were departing, the water heaters failed. The repair required a full replacement and an entirely new ventilation system (local building codes had changed). We managed the plumber, the sheetrock installer, and the painter. And we ensure the homeowner reviews all bids before any work is initiated.
We tend the home the way you want your home tended. And we communicate with the homeowners as frequently as you desire. And after living in Asia, we are in the habit of not wearing shoes in the home.
If you'd like a reference from the homeowners of the home we are currently caretaking, we would be happy to connect you and they would be happy to speak with you.
We would love to speak with you about your needs to see if this would be a good fit for both of us.
