I have been traveling as a digital nomad since 2017 and love meeting new people and exploring everything the world has to offer. I lived in Boston for many years and started dog-sitting for a friend of friend whenever they would go on vacation. I discovered it is an amazing way to be around pets (without being able to have one myself!) and also a nice change of scenery from daily life. My name is Melissa and I’m an RN, a bird nerd, an animal lover and an explorer. I love house sitting because it gives me a way to have totally novel experiences, whether it’s across the world or right in my own back yard. I love pet sitting because spending time with animals is the single greatest gift I can get myself as far as quality of life enhancement. Because I’m currently working as a travel nurse and I tend to live in one community for less than a year at a time, it doesn’t seem fair for me to have animals of my own at this time in my life, so helping other people care for their animals while they travel has been a mutually beneficial set up. I work about eight hours a day, so if there are pets in the house that need more frequent care, I might not be the best fit unless a supplemental dog walker/check in could be arranged while I’m at work. Hello dear house-owner and/or pet parent,I am a lover of all animals and a seasoned guardian of estates and willing to travel anywhere from 14 days to many months.I grew up on 'hobby' farms in Australia giving me an in-depth experience with property care, farms animals (chickens, horses, cows, exotic birds) and a variety of house pets (dogs, cats, fish, guinea pigs). We also bred exotic birds and Persian cats which included administering medical care.Although I am new to this housesitting site (January 2026), I spent the last 6.5 years housesitting large properties (please see references):- 5 years as guardian of a 150 year old, gorgeous Victorian mansion filled with antiques on 85 acres in the Berkshire mountains of western Massachusetts. - 18 months as the guardian for an office building with attached housing units for a non-profit organization.
