Hello! We are Floris and Emile, two enthusiastic adventurers hailing from the Netherlands.
Since we embarked on our exciting journey as digital nomads in January 2021, we've had the incredible opportunity to explore diverse places ranging from the stunning Spanish Canary Islands and the picturesque Dutch Caribbean to the vibrant landscapes of Colombia, Panama, Mexico, France, Italy, Switzerland, the United States, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, and Japan. Each destination has added rich experiences to our lives.
During our travels, we’ve enjoyed staying in many Airbnb homes and have received wonderful reviews from our hosts. We’ve also gained valuable experience through house and pet sitting in both France and the U.S.
Each summer, we return to the Netherlands, where we reconnect with family and friends, continuing to house-sit and take care of pets, homes, and gardens—an endeavor that brings us great joy.
As Floris works remotely, it allows us plenty of time to give your pets the love and attention they deserve.
We take great pleasure in discovering new towns and cities and embracing the beauty of nature.
**Why We Love House and Pet Sitting** Emile has cared for a delightful mix of eight cats over the years, while Floris has treasured moments with his beloved cat. Our love for animals is at the heart of what we do, as we believe that pets transform a house into a warm and inviting home. The responsibility of caring for pets is one that we cherish, as they bring so much happiness into our lives.
**Our Journey So Far** Since the start of our pet-sitting adventures in 2021, we’ve focused on providing loving care primarily for cats and dogs. Embracing this digital nomad lifestyle has allowed us to engage wholeheartedly in caring for pets, finding joy and companionship with our four-legged friends as we explore new surroundings.
Our experiences have been filled with enriching moments. In the summer of 2022, we successfully cared for two affectionate cats for friends, one of whom required special medication. By being creative with their meals, we ensured that the cat received all the necessary treatments and care.
Caring for a sweet 15-year-old Maltese named Lily in Holland was a heartwarming experience for us, as was our time with another wonderful Maltese named Babe in France. The summer of 2023 brought us the joy of looking after two senior Chihuahuas, an experience we truly cherished. Shortly thereafter, we cared for another dog and managed three homes, each of which hosted two lovely cats.
Our travels took us to the West Coast of the USA in the fall of 2023 and then to the East Coast in the spring of 2024, where we encountered fantastic experiences caring for both cats and dogs. The summers of 2024 and 2025 saw us nurturing multiple cats, dogs, and even 29 sheep in the Netherlands!
In September 2025, we started exploring the Southwest of the USA, continuing our passion for house and pet sitting. We’re proud to have received numerous five-star reviews (on Trusted Housesitters), and we’d be delighted to share them with you!

Wonderful pet sitters! Left my home extremely clean and my anxious cats were very calm when I got home- always a great sign. Very self-sufficient with good communication throughout the entire process. They even left some cat treats for my kitties- so nice! Would love to have them back in the future!

Emile and Floris were wonderful Housesitters. The house was very clean when we got home. They took great care of our pets, took them for walks, and gave them the attention they needed.

Emile and Floris were amazing pet sitters. They walked Josie everyday, even in the rain. She liked them both from the moment they walked in the door. We had a chance to get to know them over dinner the night before we left. They are fun, kind, lovely people! We enjoyed their company very much, and knew that Josie would be in good hands. They left the house extremely clean, and even left us a very sweet welcome home gift. We highly recommend them, and would love to have them back again!

Emile and Floris were fantastic. They still made it to the sit even though their car from the airport took them to the wrong address, while the subway was blacked out from a storm. Still, our cats got fed that night and we were happy to receive the photos of our kitties soon after.
Communication was great. They kept us updated by WhatsApp every day, including Zelda's medication and the progress made by Anastasia and Bastet warming up to them (even Bastet, who usually is scared of new people). Emile sent plenty of photos so we could see that everyone was doing great, including cuddles with Zelda (everyone loves Zelda!).
It was a good sit, and we came home to well adjusted cats and a cleaner home than we left. I would recommend Emile and Floris highly.

Emile was amazing with my dog, Kisses. They gave her plenty of belly rubs, ensured her supplements and feeding schedule was perfectly followed, and showered her with cuddles. I appreciated Emile’s excellent communication, sending updates and photos that kept me at ease. Kisses was clearly happy and well cared for though she protested at time with him. He handed it with love. I highly recommend Emile for any pet-sitting needs.

They were great house sitters for Raleigh. They let me know when they arrived and gave Raleigh the food he needs. They slept over during Halloween weekend and I know it was a bit noisy for them in the city but would have them over again anytime!

Needless to say, I was assured that he was in good care and was worry-free while I was away. Emile and Floris were amazing cat and house sitters! They were very conscientious about Mr. Roy Carls’ food and medicine. All the cats were happy and chill when we got home which is always the sign of a great cat sitter. And they took wonderful care of the house. They didn’t just leave it the way they found it, they actually left it even better. My husband is a bit of a neat freak and he was very happy with everything! Don’t hesitate to book them for a sit if they apply. We’ would certainly have them back anytime.

This was my first time using Trusted House Sitters so I was very nervous! From the moment I met Emile & Floris I felt comfortble and sure that they would take care of my girls (two cat sisters).
They were in touch while I was away with pictures and notes which really helped. Also, when I got home the house was neat and clean which really helped. And of course my girls were well take care of and happy. It was a great first house sit.

Emile and Floris were excellent sitters for my home and, more importantly, for my cat Misty. They let me know when they arrived since I had a very early flight and hey were arriving later. They stayed in touch with me, providing pictures and updates about Misty throughout the week. Misty is 15 years old and had recently healed from a dental issue, so sending me pictures and letting me know how she was doing was very reassuring. I could tell Misty was well taken care of by how unstressed she was when I returned. Instead of meowing at me non-stop, as she does when there isn't someone staying in the home, she merely checked to see I was home then went back to her heated cat bed. Finally, they left the house spotless! I could hardly tell they'd been here! Even the bed linens were freshly washed and beds made, and the bath towels laundered and put away.
I highly recommend Emile and Floris! I hope to have them sit for Misty again!

Emile and Floris did an outstanding job taking care of our cats and our home. Throughout the entire process, they communicated clearly and frequently, including updates and photos. The first application I received for this recent sit was from Emile and Floris, and I was very impressed with their reviews. I had the strong feeling that they were going to be my sitters, and immediately arranged a Zoom chat with them. It was a comfortable and honest conversation, and at the end, we all agreed to confirm the sit. The day of our departure, Emile and Floris arrived as we were getting our last minute packing and housekeeping done, so it was good to get to meet them in person and show them around the house.
They did a fabulous job with our two cats Quartz and Crystal. Quartz required a steroid medication in his food once a day for part of a week, and then every other day for another week while we were gone. Emile and I communicated via WhatsApp, and he was very communicative and responsive. I got a photo from their first day in our house that showed Quartz sitting on Floris’s lap, which even though he is the more outgoing cat, is impressive in the first day of cat sitting. After a few days, they also very helpfully let me know about something they saw in the litter box that might indicate a health concern. I shared the photos they took with my vet when I took Quartz in to see her. Emile and Floris are very observant and caring, which I really appreciated.
As everyone else has said, our house was cleaner when we came back than when we left! There was a little cat toy for the cats sitting on top of the microwave, too. Emile and Floris are welcome to sit for our cats anytime! I give them my highest recommendation.

Floris and Emile were so sweet! They took care of our highly energetic golden retriever Max while we were on vacation. They were super responsible, easy to communicate with and left our home cleaner than when we went away. We wish they lived in Charleston so we could hang out with them longer!

Emile and Floris were outstanding with their care for our pets and our house. They were always available for contact. We received pictures and up dates while we were gone. They washed everything and had our guest room ready for our next guest. They even left a present of doggy treats for our sweet pups. Emile and Floris are the best housesitters we've ever had! They left our home cleaner than it was when they walked in, the animals are happy, and it feels like we have new friends. I'm sure Rocky got longer walks than he's used to and probably already misses his new friends. They communicated well throughout their visit. Emile and Floris were exceptional sitters. We couldn't have asked for more attentive, loving, and highly respectful sitters, both for our house and our beloved pets.
We had an incident with Levi the day before we left, and we wound up needing to take him to the Emergency Vet right before we left town; it turns out he sprained a joint in his foreleg. Emile and Floris generously agreed to pick him up when he was released and follow the vet's direction of minimal exercise and medication for the duration of the sit.
Emile and Floris were very communicative, providing us daily updates and photos of all of our fur babies, and they didn't hesitate to reach out with any questions. When we returned we found that they left our house in immaculate condition, had prepared a dinner in the fridge for us, and also left gifts for all of the pets.
Emile and Floris are warm, loving, generous beings; we feel they're not just house sitters, we consider them to be friends. You can trust that your home and your pets are in good hands with Emile and Floris; they are welcome to stay at our home any time.
