My name is Melissa and I’m an RN, a bird nerd, an animal lover and an explorer. I love house sitting because it gives me a way to have totally novel experiences, whether it’s across the world or right in my own back yard. I love pet sitting because spending time with animals is the single greatest gift I can get myself as far as quality of life enhancement. Because I’m currently working as a travel nurse and I tend to live in one community for less than a year at a time, it doesn’t seem fair for me to have animals of my own at this time in my life, so helping other people care for their animals while they travel has been a mutually beneficial set up. I work about eight hours a day, so if there are pets in the house that need more frequent care, I might not be the best fit unless a supplemental dog walker/check in could be arranged while I’m at work. I’ve been helping people care for their homes and animals for over 20 years and I’m happy to provide glowing references upon request. I have experience caring for just about every kind of animal and taking care of homes ranging from urban apartments to farmsteads and everything in between. I’m comfortable administering medication, oral, transdermal, and subcutaneous. I’m rather introverted and tidy and spend a lot of my downtime cuddling with the animals in my care (assuming they are into that kind of thing, not all kitties and doggos are and I respect that, lol), exploring new nature areas and birdwatching. I’m happy to provide plant care, but I don’t have the same intuitive understanding of plants that I do with animals so specific instructions should be provided. If you have any question about my history, experience or would like reference contact information, please reach out! :D |
