Cultured Animal Lover & Home Carer | Professional on Sabbatical Seeking Longer-Term Sits in the UK Countryside
Hello, I’m Alessia — an experienced international professional currently on a break from my senior career with the European Union and other global institutions. I’ve spent over 25 years living and working across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the U.S., often in diplomatic roles, and I’m now taking time to reconnect with quiet, nature, and beauty.
Though I’m new to formal house sitting, I bring decades of deep care and attention to every home I’ve lived in. Throughout my diplomatic career, I’ve refurbished, maintained, and cared for elegant houses and gardens across continents — from restoring heritage interiors to cultivating flower gardens and hosting animals rescued abroad. For me, keeping a home clean, beautiful, and peaceful is both a joy and a necessity.
I’m a lifelong animal lover and currently care for four rescue pets:
-
A small, gentle terrier mix from Eswatini
-
A senior Boerboel–Ridgeback mix from Botswana
-
Two sweet rescue cats from Cambodia, one of whom is blind
For house sits, I may bring only the small terrier, and only where clearly welcomed. She is quiet, clean, well-socialised, and used to adapting to new environments. My other pets remain well cared for at home during any sitting stay.
I speak fluent English, French, and Italian, and have conversational Spanish and Greek. I’m non-smoking, tidy, and deeply respectful of personal spaces. I take great pride in maintaining beautiful surroundings and would be delighted to care for pets, gardens, or simply keep your home warm and safe while you're away.
I’m especially interested in longer-term rural or village sits (3+ months) in England or Scotland, where I can enjoy nature, care for animals, and attend local English gardening courses.
If you're looking for a sitter who brings maturity, serenity, and heartfelt respect for your space and animals, I would be happy to connect. References are available and I’m glad to meet via video call. |
