I am a former professional in the environmental field, and current online writer/editor, who housesits and provides caretaking (as well as occasional pet transport) as a means to visit and get to know new areas both within the US and abroad. With excellent communication skills, a way with both plants and animals, and a quick problem-solving mind, I provide the utmost peace of mind while you travel.

Ellen pet and house sat for us this past winter for a week (and has previous times). I don’t think I would have trusted this job to anyone but Ellen, as we have one shy/sensitive dog and a brand new puppy, both with a complex diet. Not only did she win over our shy dog, but she dealt with jealousy, customized diets for each, and complex instructions with ease. She was kind, respectful, genuinely happy to be with our dogs, and brought such a high level of care and attention to the job that I don’t think there’s ever been a better dog sitter, seriously. She also left our home looking better than when she arrived. We couldn’t recommend her highly enough!

We love Ellen. She is our go-to house/dog sitter. I’m happy to say that she has watched my house/dogs more than once each time successfully. I had never left them before with anyone because I am very picky about who I would let stay in my home and be with my dogs. She has great energy and my dogs adore her. She always keeps us informed about how things are going. She genuinely cares about animals and plants. She is very respectful of my home too. I can definitely recommend her as person of high integrity who you can trust to take great care of your home and pets.

On two occasions, Ellen took very good care of our two small houses and three
cats while we were out of country for weeks at a time. She is absolutely trustworthy, careful and
attentive, knows a lot about animals, health and gardening and has

Ellen cared for my home and my dogs perfectly for several months. She adapts to her environment and the household routine and puts care and attention into everything she does. My dogs loved her and she was a calming, gentle, competent caregiver. Ellen tended to my indoor and outdoor plants and was a conscientious, responsible, quiet member of the household, keeping everything spotlessly clean. Ellen was our neighbor for two years outside Taos, New Mexico, as she was caretaking for the home and 4-acre property next door to us (that owner is now deceased so can't provide a direct referral).
Ellen was very conscientious in caring for and maintaining the property in great condition through all the various seasons of high elevation high desert mountain life. She did extensive improvements to the landscaping and gardens (I know because I assisted her in some irrigation troubleshooting at times) and she had the home and casita, and indoor plants and flowers always looking lovely for showings (the house was on the market at the time).
She also housesat for us personally twice. We have four cats and three dogs as well as the four horses. She is completely dependable and we enjoy her occasional visits to Taos and her continued friendship. Jane and I both highly recommend her.

Ellen is excellent at whatever she chooses to do— whether writing, building sustainable housing, housekeeping or managing properties.. Brilliant, beautiful, resourceful, detail oriented, kind, extremely conscientious, endearingly unique...anyone would be fortunate to have her work for them. I had the privilege of Ellen managing my properties in Taos, NM for many years when I was not in town. She made them beautiful; she kept them immaculate; she handled repairs, maintenance, gardening, staging and guests and emergencies— and she brought beauty to all of those tasks.
