Hi! My name is Melissa and I am enthusiastic professional women from North Carolina, US who is looking for an opportunity to fully immerse myself and my very responsible 17-year-old daughter into a culture different from our own this summer, 2020. I have been a teacher and a principal for the last 25 years in the US, which affords me the opportunity to get away for a month or so during the summers.
I truly love working with kids, but my first love is animals. We have 2 dogs, 2 fish, and a bearded dragon at home that my husband and college son will be looking after while we are abroad. Throughout my life I have had various pets including a rabbit, cat, rat, and 5 dogs. I am an excellent care-taker who is responsible for maintaining my own personal household, managing multiple employees, building positive relationships with parents and students, and operating a large school facility. Both my daughter and I are English-speaking and well-versed in Spanish. We also plan on participating in Rosetta Stone online in the language of the country of our house-sitting assignment as soon as it is determined. (Italian, French, Mandarin, German)
As an English and History teacher, I am excited to use my travel experiences to enhance my teaching. Most of all, I really hope to share my love of travel and the world with my amazing daughter. House/pet sitting will enable my daughter and I to enjoy a truly "local" experience. We are both very excited for an opportunity to care for a home and all that this job entails.
