🌸 Live-In Senior Companion / Housesitter
Free Room & Board + $25 Daily Stipend | Luxury 55+ Community | West Nyack, NY We are looking for a kind, patient, dependable, and compassionate live-in companion/home helper for a senior woman with dementia who lives in a beautiful luxury 55+ community in West Nyack, NY.
She maintains a level of independence but benefits from companionship, reminders, structure, and assistance with her daily routine. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with seniors and can provide a calm, supportive presence while encouraging her to remain as active and independent as possible. In addition to free room and board and a $25 daily stipend, the companion will have access to the community’s luxury amenities during appropriate downtime, making this an especially attractive arrangement for someone with a flexible lifestyle.
ScheduleMonday through Saturday Weekday responsibilities generally take place between approximately 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, with breaks and downtime between responsibilities.
This is not constant hands-on care throughout the day. However, the person must be available during the agreed-upon hours to assist when needed and make sure important parts of her daily routine are completed. ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will include: Providing companionship and general support Morning, midday, and evening medication reminders Preparing simple/light meals according to her dietary requirements Helping her stay organized and maintain a consistent daily routine Encouraging her to participate in activities, clubs, games, and events within her community Accompanying her to community activities when appropriate Encouraging and assisting with her prescribed physical therapy exercises on days her physical therapist does not visit Following the exercises and instructions provided by her physical therapist Helping her prepare for dialysis three times per week and other medical appointments Making sure she is ready on time for scheduled transportation Ensuring she gets into the correct vehicle when her ride arrives Meeting her when she returns and assisting her back into the apartment as needed Providing gentle reminders, redirection, and reassurance when necessary Communicating with the family regarding anything important or unusual
Driving is not required. Transportation to dialysis and other medical appointments is arranged separately through a ride service.
Light Household HelpWe would also like someone who naturally helps keep the apartment comfortable, neat, and organized. Light household responsibilities may include dishes, cleaning up after meal preparation, wiping down kitchen and bathroom surfaces, taking out trash, light sweeping or vacuuming, general tidying, and keeping common areas organized and clutter-free. This is not a deep-cleaning or heavy housekeeping position.
Living ArrangementsShe lives in a one-bedroom, 1.5-bath luxury apartment within an upscale 55+ community. The companion will have the den as their personal sleeping area, furnished with a sturdy queen-size air bed with a headboard.
Please note that the den does not have a traditional door. A privacy curtain or room divider can be arranged to provide additional privacy.
The companion will have their own half bathroom located in the hallway. The apartment has one shower, which is located in the master bathroom, so the shower will be shared.
We want to be completely transparent about the living arrangement so anyone interested knows exactly what to expect before applying.

We are especially interested in someone who is kind, compassionate, patient, extremely dependable, and punctual.
The ideal person is comfortable working with someone with dementia and can calmly repeat information or redirect without becoming frustrated. They should be naturally neat and organized, proactive, positive and encouraging, able to follow instructions carefully, and a strong communicator. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will respect her independence, dignity, privacy, and home while providing the additional support and companionship she needs. Previous experience working with seniors and/or individuals with dementia is strongly preferred.
