Description:

Hi. We are former sailors and have landed in this beautiful Island of Guanaja many years ago with our sailing boat. Once a year we are leaving and are looking for trusted housesitters for our pets and property.

Guanaja is part of the Bay Islands of Honduras. It is the furthest east and the less developed.

It would be an advantage if you are skilled in manual work. The energy system is solar and you should be aware when to reduce your consumption. Usually the system has enough power but you need to have an eye on it. The same goes for the water.

We have installed a water system which purifies the water through a sand and UV filter plus one more filter under the kitchen sink. The water is stored in tanks and a pump will bring it up into the house. Here also you should have an eye on the system, even though we have installed pressure valves, it doesn't mean that they always can hold the strong pressure from the Municipal lines, specially when it is raining a lot.

The work shop is well equipped with spare parts and tools in case something is needed.

This is a sit for someone who likes to be independent and live in nature. The property is not isolated and there are expat neighbors close as well as two restaurants. The expats meet on Saturday in one of the restaurants. There is a/c in all rooms and starlink.

We are looking only for couples. Please do not apply if you are alone! It's also not possible that you bring your pet!

If you know how to drive a boat (outboard 25 HP) we can consider letting you the use of it. You are responsible for the maintenance. Either by yourself if you know about engines or you need to bring it to the local mechanic for oil changes or any other problem that occurs. You receive the boat in perfect conditions when we are leaving.

There will be a worker on the property for 5 days a week. He is in charge of the garden. We will leave a list to him and to you regarding the tasks we expect him to do.
