Our brand new home (we can share plenty of other pictures) sits in the middle of the lush, beautiful and peaceful jungles of SW Costa Rica. Living in the jungle comes with many perks as well as many challenges 'fighting' off the jungle. We don't need to ask much of our sitter when it comes to maintenance of our home during their stay, but we expect them to ensure that bugs don't overrun the house (inside and out). This means vacuuming inside regularly, using the provided extension pole to knock out spider webs and other similar type "freeloaders" in and on the outside of the house. Ants are a massive pest in the jungle, especially leaf cutters that can take down garden plants in a matter of a day. We have a gardener who will come each week to tend the plants around the house and monitor for ants, but we will need our guest to keep a eye out for these types of ants as well (you can't miss them) and notify us whenever they see them on the property so we can address the issue as soon as possible. Without this the garden can get eaten up. There will also be a bit of light weeding to prevent too much encroachment onto certain parts of the property.
Newly built (completed December 2024) jungle oasis with beautiful mountain and jungle views and tons of wildlife. If you love birds you will love it here. So many birds including countless Toucans all around us most days. We also regularly see monkeys, lizards, jungle cats (at night on the security camera) and other critters. The house is 2 stories with 2 bedrooms , both with king mattresses and full bathrooms (showers only) and an office. The house is 3/4 windows with the entire front half of the house a 2 story living room/kitchen with 20 foot floor to ceiling windows to watch the jungle. It opens up to a large covered patio with a dip pool, 6 top table, large day bed . We have a 65in 4k smart TV, all the kitchen appliances you would expect, eat in kitchen counter, steam clean washer/dryers, workout equipment. Each room has its own AC units and ceiling fans. Outside we have a carport so you won't get wet coming in during the rain (it rains a lot here!). Wifi throughout the entire house. Our house is smack in the rainforest jungle and very private. There are neighbors about a mile up the hill from us but otherwise we are isolated in our little development. You must have a car to live here as nothing is walkable. There are monthly rentals available and we can recommend places to get prices.
Puntarenas province of Costa Rica and the Ballena/Uvita area is nothing short of spectacular. The coast is mostly a protected reserve making for stunning jungle to sea beaches where no building is allowed on the beaches. The Whales Tail is a landmark in Uvita and connects two beaches that are 8+ km long each. The town of Uvita is only 10 minutes down the road by car with all the amenities you need ( multiple full size supermarkets, hardware stores, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, urgent care etc). If you are into yoga, holistic medicine, spirituality and similar experiences this is a perfect region for you. If you aren't familiar with the Uvita area please do research or send us questions. It is a gorgeous area with lovely people, spectacular jungle beaches, mountains and more. It is such a special place. But it is a quiet area. If you are looking for a hopping beach town with bars on the beach and partying this is not the place.
