Assignment Description:

We are snowbirds looking for experienced sitter(s) for our home and 1 outdoor cat. Our home is small (1400sq ft), cozy and sits on 5 acres near the end of a mile and a half private gravel road, 20 minutes away from town. We have 8 pleasant neighbors tucked away along the gravel road. Yes, it’s pretty isolated.

The little town of Goldendale has one blinking stoplight, a brewery, several thrift/antique shops, a few restaurants and bars, two motels, a museum, a State Park Observatory, other basic services including a hospital, and no traffic.

The perfect sitters will enjoy solitude, wildlife (birds, deer, turkeys, coyotes and an occasional bobcat), peace and quiet, dark skies with the Milky Way from horizon to horizon, many places to walk/hike from the front door or within an hours’ drive including the scenic Columbia River Gorge, a hot tub, a comfortable king bed and a postcard perfect view of Mt. Hood from the house, decks and yard.

The perfect sitter(s) would also own a 4-wheel drive vehicle (required) and be comfortable driving in snow. Rarely is snow on the ground for more than two weeks. Also rarely is the snow deep enough to prevent travel, but there have been occasions when we've been stuck in the house for a couple of days up to a week.

In exchange for free rent and utilities, your duties would include feeding the cat morning and evening, watering half a dozen house plants, picking up our mail at the Goldendale post office at least weekly, forwarding it to us monthly, filling the hot tub when needed and keeping everything clean and tidy.

We can be flexible on the start and end dates to accommodate the schedules of the perfect sitter(s). You only need your personal items and food; the kitchen is complete and all linens are provided.

If you’re OK with solitude, we call our property a place of healing. If you’re not OK with solitude, this isn’t a place for you.
