- Also, moderate drinking habits only
If arriving without a car, a small (manual) insured car can be provided for those with clean driving records. All efforts are made to ensure that our housecarers are comfortable, happy and are enjoying the delights of France. If one has any particular skills or talents, either artistic or practical, we definitely encourage any creativity.
Utilities are provided by us (including wifi).
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
We are looking for couples who like to be active in the garden and can be part of our current projects : trimming, pruning, mowing, painting, etc...
We also have two lovely outdoor dogs (13 and 3 yo) called Havane and Toscane who will need love while we are away (6 to 8 weeks). They are Beauce'Shepperd or "Bas-rouge".
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a beautiful post Renaissance style Castle in a remarkably good condition, situated between Tours and Poitiers, a region famed for its history and beauty.
The Chateau operates as a family home. The grounds consist of a small woodland area, this has paths for nature walks and abundant wildlife, a swimming pool (not heated,) barns welcoming weddings and receptions, a greenhouse and ample lawn areas, a 1 bedroom gate cottage with its own garden is available for a couple of English speaking house-sitters. The other cottage, a farmhouse, is occupied by an English/polish young couple.
The property is located in an idyllic location in France, and is only 700 meters away from the nearest village with a bar/restaurant/post-office, library, grocery store, hairdressers and a service of pizza maker and hamburger maker, (each of them once a week.)
The village also has a Catholic Church with services once a month.
The nearest large town is less than 5km away and features a mainline high-speed train connection (TGV.) We are only 1 hour and 15 minutes from Paris by train. We are also close to all the castles of the Loire Valley as well as many local attractions. Futuroscope Park, Golf, Trekking, Horse Riding, Bicycle Tracks, Hot air Balloon, Lake Sailing and many more.
