Hi! My name is Melissa and I am enthusiastic professional women from North Carolina, US who is looking for an opportunity to fully immerse myself and my very responsible 17-year-old daughter into a culture different from our own this summer, 2020. I have been a teacher and a principal for the last 25 years in the US, which affords me the opportunity to get away for a month or so during the summers. I truly love working with kids, but my first love is animals. We have 2 dogs, 2 fish, and a bearded dragon at home that my husband and college son will be looking after while we are abroad. Throughout my life I have had various pets including a rabbit, cat, rat, and 5 dogs. I’ve helped care for dogs, cats, fish, and even birds over the years for friends and family. I currently have 1 fur baby that I care for regularly, named Brutus. He is a 12-year-old, 9-pound Yorkie who comes with me on my housesits. I also have 2 fur grandbabies who love to sleep over when I am in town. My oldest is Rylo, who is a 6-year-old American Bulldog, and the Diva of the family is Sage, our 2-year-old long-haired cat. My approach is gentle, intuitive, and aligned with each animal’s needs and habits. I’m detail-oriented, respectful of routines, and I’m happy to maintain a tidy, peaceful environment during my stay. I advise primarily from home while husband, Steve, a VP with a national bank, focuses on transforming operations. I started house sitting for my professors while I was in college 30+ years ago. We have extensive experience caring for your home and pets with as much respect as if they were our own. We have a small well-behaved rescue dog named Cassie who was found on the side of the road in rural NC in January of 2025. She had obviously been badly abused. We bonded with each other immediately and go very few places without her.
