Our farm is Sonora's first and only producing dragon fruit farm. We are a married couple who originated this farm 7 years ago and we are bilingual in English and Spanish. We have a six-acre organic and sustainable farm with 12,000 dragon fruit plants in production, situated in San Jose de Guaymas, 15 minutes from beautiful San Carlos, a small tourist town with world famous beaches and activities. Featured on HGTV twice on a show called Mexico Life, we grow our fruit, host dinner tours, and we are our community's only source for organic fruits in veggies which we deliver to San Carlos weekly. We have also donated over 70 tons of food this year so far to our community because of the earlier lockdowns (no longer in place), as well as three orphanages and an elder care home. Giving back to our community is very important to us.
We have had several international sitters here in the past with much success. We are still friends with them all! We have several paid workers who help with things like irrigation, fertilization, weed management, pruning, and harvesting.
What we provide:
You will be staying in a quaint one-bedroom house with the following amenities:
King size bed, big screen tv, internet, full indoor and outdoor kitchens, hot/cold running water, washer/dryer, air conditioning, private bathroom, and an outdoor screened lanai to chill in your hammocks. The property is secure in a safe neighborhood. We are currently at Code Yellow here with covid, meaning that you will never have to wear a mask here if you don't want to. They are only required in stores like Walmart and Sams Club which are 15 minutes from the farm.
What we don't provide:
Any compensation.
Our expectations of you:
We have three dogs, a lab and two Belgian Shepherd puppies, and three cats. We would expect you to help keep an eye on them, care for them and give them love. Speaking at least minimal Spanish is a huge plus but not required. Keep eye on our farm worker.
We ask that you don't do any other drugs while you are with us and no cigarette smokers please.
Explore the most diverse desert in the world and our beautiful beaches. Some of the activities we enjoy here are kite surfing, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and checking out the local scene. We have great restaurants, taco stands and bars in San Carlos.
