Location:   Minneapolis, Minnesota

Assignment Description:

We're looking for someone to watch our house and dog over a long weekend in March 2016. One of us works from home, so the dog is used to having someone around. If you're a writer or someone who is in need of a quiet getaway, this would be ideal.

We'd like someone with references and a proven history of responsible and safe care of the house, and willingness to show some love to a lovable old dog. **If you are local, we'd prefer the opportunity to meet prior to your sitting.****AND if you are a cat owner, we unfortunately will have to pass; one of us is terribly allergic to dander brought into the house. Three walks a day, as short as around the block (but more is fine). Our dog is 10, so she's got a nice calm demeanor. Also one of the quietest and cuddliest Labs you'll meet.

Beyond that, we ask you to hang out here as much as you can, and keep our house clean and safe. We live in a great, safe location, just 8 blocks from the Mississippi River, in the oldest neighborhood in Minneapolis. Our 120-year old house has one master bedroom on the second floor and another bedroom and bath in the finished basement. (One with a King-sized bed, one with a Queen.) Walking distance to the University of Minnesota, trails along the Mississippi River, The Guthrie Theater, fine restaurants, inexpensive eats and groceries. Watchful neighbors. Wifi, AppleTV and Netflix streaming.

There may still be snowfall at the end of the March, in which case there would be a small amount of shoveling required. We have a short front walk which City laws say must be kept clean as well as a front sidewalk and steps. (Or, the weather could just be rainy and muddy.) If you have a car, there is a carport off our alley where you can safely park. There is a bus stop at the end of our block.

We will leave extensive directions on house/dog care, as well as a list of local resources/sites and foods available for cooking/eating.
