Aloha! We are a retired couple who have been fortunate to realize our dream of building our home and retiring in Kauai. We were both born and raised in Southern California and had executive careers in local government there. Since our family and friends are in Southern California, we make several trips a year to visit them as well as vacation throughout the U.S. and occasionally internationally.
We are looking for a mature couple to housesit our beautiful home in Princeville, Kauai, located on the Prince Golf Course with views of the ocean and surrounding mountains. It is 3400 square feet with four bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, and a gorgeous gourmet kitchen. Duties will include caring for our five-year-old and one-year-old Australian Shepherds (Aussies) and maintaining our koi pond and water gardens. We have a weekly gardener and bi-weekly pond service, but an occasional weed may need to be pulled and the pond and water gardens tended to between service visits. The ideal couple must be non-smokers, minimal to no drinking, reliable, conscientious, responsible, trustworthy and love pets. Obviously, no drugs and no parties. We take pride in our home and keep it clean, tidy and in good repair and would expect you to treat it the same way. We also respect the environment and have an energy efficient home and want someone who shares the same values. You would live here rent free in exchange for caring for our home and pets.
Our home is within walking distance to the Princeville Shopping Center (market, post office, banks, shops and restaurants) and a bus stop. We are located on the North Shore of Kauai with some of the most spectacular beaches in the world (e.g., Hanalei Bay, Anini, Lumahai, Tunnels and Kee Beaches). The North Shore is also home to the popular Queen’s Bath, the famous Kalalau Trail above the spectacular Na Pali Coast, the Kilauea Lighthouse and Bird Sanctuary as well as zip lining, kayaking, horseback riding, sailing, surfing, body boarding and cycling activities.
Our Aussies Kai and Kana are obedience trained and well behaved. They are affectionate and loving and live to fetch toys for you. They love to go on walks and have their ears scratched. They are not barkers and will only bark if they feel someone is threatening their home or their people. Thus, their care and safety is of utmost importance to us, and we are looking for someone who truly loves and appreciates what wonderful companions dogs can be and will treat them with love and affection.
