About Linz Balmer:

Veterinary Technician and avid Photographer,
I'm here to care for your critters and home!

I'm Linz, short for Lindsay.  I am a Veterinary Technician with experience for small and large and exotic animals.  Currently I pet sit full time, work part time for a high end pet boutique in Santa Fe, NM, volunteer a lot, and trying to find every opportunity to visit Alasak and get my fill of the northern lights.
I have Extensive Equine experience, along with farm and ranch experience including all livestock.  Small animals, dogs especially, I have tons of knowledge owning, caring for, and feeding any diet including RAW diets, and caring for special needs or difficult cases. Vet experience equal for dogs, cats, pigs, goats, etc. bird experience, mostly farmyard, some Parrot, indoor birds. Livestock experience, including milking, goats, pigs, etc. I even have experience raising Emus. Have I left something out, just ask me, I may have.
I have been care taking others pets since 1999 as side jobs and full time since 2012.

My Mother and I finally had the opportunity to visit Alaska this last fall as number 1 on our bucket list... and now I am officially hooked.
I'm specifically looking to sit during the winter time in Alaska so I have the ability to see the Aurora and see what an Alaskan winter is like, as I LOVE the cold.

When Lindsay agreed to house sit for us in January 2015, neither she nor we realized that it was going to be the house sitting job from hell! She quickly made friends with our 3 dogs and 3 parrots and had their routines well in hand. However, our driveway iced over the morning we left, and the oil truck couldn't make a delivery of heating oil. She made several calls to arrange for a delivery of salt and chipped stone, and the oil truck made its delivery. Several days later, the furnace blower burned out, and as the temperature dropped in the house, she found several electric heaters to keep the birds warm until the furnace was repaired. Further on in the week, the van's brake system warning light came on, and she had to take it to the repair shop. She handled all these challenges with a calm, positive attitude. In her "spare time, she consulted with a veterinary nutritionist, and managed to put 15 pounds on our bony rescued German shepherd! We are extremely grateful for her care of the animals and house, and highly recommend her.

To whom it may concern,
Linz Balmer has asked me for a letter of reference and I am delighted to provide one, as I think she is a rare gem among pet and house sitters. She has taken care of two dogs at my house, taken care of one dog when she was house-sitting elsewhere (with the clear approval of the owners of the house where she was staying), and was instrumental in re-homing a rescue dog who I now have. She is absolutely reliable, thoughtful, and very “tuned-in” to animals. She has excellent communication skills, sending me photos and texts (as needed) during the pet-sit. The house was in pristine condition when I returned, and the things I asked her to do while I was gone (mail, garbage, etc.) were all done. I ride, and although I have had no need for horse care while I am gone as my horse is in a boarding barn, she clearly is a knowledgeable horse woman, and I would be very comfortable having her take care of my horse as well. I can and do highly recommend her without reservation. If you have any questions, I would be happy to speak personally with you by phone or correspond by email. Linz can provide my contact info.
Sincerely, Linda Parlin MD

Re: Lindsay Balmer Reference Letter
I am writing this letter to highly recommend Lindsay Balmer as an excellent petsitter and housesitter.
A couple of years ago, my dog Laverne (german shepherd/husky mix) and I were in a terrible car accident. As a result of that accident. Laverne is almost fully paralyzed in her hind legs and needs help to express her bladder and also to eliminate her bowels...every day! And because of her limited mobility she needs extra attention.
It was my first time leaving Laverne in the care of someone else and I was really nervous, but after speaking with Lindsay, and also knowing of her experience as a vet tech...I was immediately put at ease. Lindsay went above and beyond my expectations as a caregiver for my dog....she left special notes and instructions on some ways to help with Laverne's health...AND my house was immaculate upon my return!
Lindsay not only does what is needed...she puts her heart and soul into the care and well-being of your animals. When I was away, Lindsay sent me pictures and emails (as if written from Laverne...so sweet....I was constantly reassured that all was well and that my baby was doing fine.
Lindsay is incredibly respectful and reliable and independent. I completely trusted her with my home and my dog. I think of Lindsay as a trustworthy friend...not just a dogsitter.
If you are looking for someone who knows how to handle a variety of situations with your home and animals...look no further... Lindsay is your gal. And I must add, she is wise beyond her years.
I feel blessed to have met Lindsay.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any other concerns or questions.
Most sincerely,
Jenise L. Brown Santa Fe NM 505-913-9895

Re: Lindsay Balmer, pet sitter
To Whom It May Concern,
Lindsay Balmer took excellent care of our little dog during our 2015 summer vacation. Our dog has a chronic medical condition which requires a complicated medication schedule, frequent monitoring, and protection from heat stress. Lindsay handled everything beautifully, even getting up very early in the morning to walk the dog before the heat set in. She also took care of our home as if it were her own. We would highly recommend her, especially for special-needs pets.
