Assignment Description:

OUR HOME:

Our large (1750 sq. ft.), bright 3-story townhome is an eco-modern style designed for indoor/outdoor living. Bamboo floors throughout, lots of windows & French doors to 4 outdoor patios w/ fruit trees & veggie gardens. It is sunny, west-facing, and only shares one wall, so it feels more like a house than a condo.

1st floor: A gourmet kitchen (Viking appliances & many pro details). Modern living room w/ fireplace. Powder room. Large outdoor deck w/ seating, gas grill BBQ, heat lamp, fountain & garden with lemon and orange tree.

2nd floor: Master bedroom w/ king size bed, Italian linens, walk-in closet, fireplace & ensuite. 2nd bedroom/den with comfortable full-size sofa bed, widescreen TV. 2nd full bathroom with bathtub.

3rd floor: Large loft. Guest room (queen bed), TV screening room with 65" TV, work & yoga space. Powder room area with toilet and sink. Leads to a large top deck. Private 2-car garage. Includes beach toys for you to enjoy. We will consider the use of one car for the right person.

LOCATION:
Our home is in the heart of the beach community of Santa Monica. It is a quiet hideaway amidst all the fun of downtown and only 9 blocks to the ocean bluffs, famous Santa Monica Pier & beach. It's a laidback walking community and everything, including the beach, is less than 10 minutes away by foot or bike. The nearby restaurants are outstanding, especially if you like healthy fare. For better or worse, "Baywatch" was filmed here, celebrity sightings are common, and you've probably seen Santa Monica in dozens of movies).

The Third Street Promenade is a 5-min. walk. It's full of shops, restaurants, cafes, performers, movies galore, and nightlife. Yoga anyone? Literally 100s of classes. Don't forget the huge Farmers' Market on Wed. & Sat., the largest in Southern California and a "must-do" for the quintessential California Dreamin' experience. Groovy Venice Beach and "Muscle Beach" are just a bike ride down the beach path. Toney Montana Ave. is just a few blocks away too. A short drive up the coast on the PCH and you're in Malibu. This is probably why Santa Monica is the most expensive neighborhood in the USA. But that aside, Santa Monica is simply a fantastic place to both unwind and live it up!

All restaurants are open for outdoor dining and in the middle of February, it was 70 degrees and sunny.

EXPECTATIONS:
We have two charming housetrained dogs that require minimal care. One is an elderly Pit Bull and the other is a young Malti-poodle mix who still has a bit of puppy in her. They love each other and are on a regular schedule, which we will provide. Basically, it consists of one walk per day and letting them out a couple of times a day in the front yard, plus feeding twice a day. That said, they are beloved and spoiled, so only animal lovers with lots of dog experience and intelligence should apply. Other duties include light plant watering. This is a non-paying position, but if you want to visit sunny Southern Cal and not pay $600/night for a room at the Proper Hotel (a block away), then this is your spot in paradise.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of three references. Verified ID (we will run a credit check). Proof of experience with dogs (we are most serious about this). NONSMOKING of any kind. As we are part of a small condo association and are close with our neighbors, you will be interacting with them occasionally in the front yard, so being quiet, friendly, and peaceful is also necessary. We are very easygoing but are understandably serious about the care of our home, dogs, and neighbors.
