Alaska's Stonewood Lodge is looking for a trustworthy Lodge Overseer for
this summer. We need a caretake(s) to be present all summer which will
allow the owners and staff to focus on our guests and project needs.
Our lodge services fishing and adventure tourism clients during the
summer months and will see some hunting client in the fall. The
caretaker will both be working closely with the owner some of the time
and at other times the owner(s)/staff will be absent'in the field with
clients.
The scope of the position is flexible and can be a
vary depending on the caretakers strengths and commitment. The ideal
candidate would: oversee the immediate property, manage/work with 1-2
lodge staff as needed and take care of immediate guest needs (light
hosting) as needed. The lodge is a very small operation with normally
4-10 guests and has a very quiet and homey atmosphere, so there is not a
high level of complexity and crowds.
We are not looking
for a operations director or project manager the job is at its core is
care taking, be-it with a much more hands-on approach. The position can
work for both a quit behind the scenes person or a more gregarious and
people oriented person, as long as both have some handyman/woman skills
and are able to interact with others in both giving and receiving
directions very well.
Couples will be considered and all
applicants must be prepared to supply references and a background check
(if required). For those interested in additional maintenance and
projects, we can consider additional pay depending on ability and
project performance. Though we love children and animals, it is not an
options for this care taking position.
Only accessible by
airplane, this position offers a quiet escape of an off the grid
lifestyle, while still offering the amenities and comforts of normal
every day life. The lodge is self functioning and runs off of a
generator and solar panels that charge a battery bank for power.
There
is limited internet access and local cell phone coverage so you can
stay highly connected to family/friends during your stay. Please note,
we do have some taxidermied Alaskan species so those who are
uncomfortable about this should not apply. You also must be comfortable
being isolated from road side amenities (aware from any town).
Those interested should email us for more details and information. |
